Digital Health Report for Catalonia and 2nd Health Revolution Congress

The commission
Briefing

In May 2024, with its second edition, the Health Revolution Congress (HRC) consolidated its position as the leading European event for digital health, and did so within the setting of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau complex, the headquarters of Barcelona Health Hub, the non-profit association that organises the event. The congress, which brings together global startups and stakeholders from the hospital and the pharmaceutical, investment and financial sectors, is a great forum for debate on new trends in digital health as well as a showcase for the most advanced technological solutions in this field.

Objectives

The event was supported by the Sant Pau Foundation, the Catalan Government’s ACCIÓN agency and Barcelona City Council’s Barcelona Activa agency. It also saw the participation of more than 85 companies, including AstraZeneca, Sanofi, DKV, Zurich, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Asabys, Mediktor, Doole Health, Mutual Mèdica, Reig Jofre and Angelini Pharma, as well as 2,500 congress participants from more than 50 countries and some 200 top national and international speakers who are experts in digital health.

Within the framework of the congress, the update of the report on Digital Health in Catalonia, prepared by ACCION – the business competitiveness agency of the Department of Business and Employment – in collaboration with Barcelona Health Hub, was publicly presented. The study shows that Catalonia, and Barcelona in particular, are leading areas in the field of health, innovation and digitisation, thanks to an outstanding research ecosystem ready to develop new digital health solutions.

The press conference prior to the HRC was held with the aim of presenting the main data of the report prepared by ACCIÓN and highlighting the international importance of the congress with which Barcelona Health Hub, as the driving force behind the sector’s ecosystem, has positioned Barcelona, and Catalonia in general, as a key hub for digital health.

Our solution
Strategy

To manage the activities related to the media, as in the first edition of the HRC, Barcelona Health Hub appointed Intermèdia Comunicació as its communications agency. The strategy was based on raising media awareness of the report and the second edition of the congress through various actions with the aim of reaching the maximum possible audience. To this end, the press conference was attended by the general media as well as the health, entrepreneurship and economic sectors of the press, radio, television and digital media. News agencies were also invited in order to strengthen the achievement of the proposed objectives.

It is worth highlighting that the press conference had a multiplying effect and interviews were subsequently arranged with the people in charge of the project.

Action plan
  1. Creation of a database of media outlets.
  2. Organisation of the press conference to present the update to the report and the most important data from the second edition of the HRC, with ACCIÓ, the Sant Pau Foundation and Barcelona Health Hub (a representative from each institution and the Barcelona Health Hub management team).
  3. Coordination with ACCIÓ to send out a press release on the presentation of the study.
  4. Management of interviews and reports for the press, radio, television and digital media.
Impact
Results

The most significant results, derived both from the press conference and from the congress itself, were the high audience figures. Among traditional media – 2 television channels, 2 radio stations, 7 print media outlets and 49 digital media outlets – 60 hits were achieved, with an audience of 197,727,436 people and a value of EUR 304,141. In terms of the type of media, news items appeared in 5 economic publications, 37 general publications and 18 sector-specific publications. The client’s feedback was highly positive. The fact of presenting the data that holds up the sector, both in Catalonia and globally (economic impact, job creation, etc.), and that they were presented within the framework of the Health Revolution Congress, highlighted the work of ecosystems such as that represented by BHH as a key creator of synergies between the different agents in the world of digital health.
