The commission
Briefing

Since 2018, the Barcelona Restaurateurs’ Guild has been organising a lunch event in honour of Santa Eulàlia, co-patron saint of the city, which is attended by numerous professionals from the sector and representatives of the public authorities, economic agents, civil society and the world of culture and sport. In 2023, the guest of honour was the actress Lola Herrera (Valladolid, 1935), who was accompanied by the presenter from Badalona Jorge Javier Vázquez.

The Santa Eulàlia event was also attended, on the stage, by the city’s Mayor, Jaume Collboni; Roger Torrent, Catalan Minister of Enterprise and Employment; and Salva Vendrell, President of the Restaurateurs’ Guild. Other guests included prominent figures such as Artur Mas, Ada Colau, Alba Vergés, Daniel Sirera, Elisenda Alemany; economic and social agents such as Gabriel Jené and Josep Santacreu of the Chamber of Commerce; actors and singers such as Queco Novel, José Corbacho, Octavi Pujades, Albert Baró, Ruth Lorenza, Isabel Coixet, Sofia Coll, Betsi Túrnez, Carles Sans, Anna Maria Barbany, Pep Munné and Agnès Busquets; chefs such as Raül Balam and Carme Ruscalleda; and presenters including Samanta Villar, Oriol Nolis and Guillem Clua.

The people honoured by the Barcelona Restauranteurs’ Guild in previous years include Manuela Carmena (2018), Lluís Sans (2019), José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (2020), Julieta Serrano (2022) and Boris Izaguirre (2023).

Objectives

Within this scenario, since 2022 the Guild has entrusted Intermèdia to provide the press office for the event. In this regard, the agency’s main objectives are to publicise the event among the media, manage interviews with the award winners and increase the notoriety of the Guild.

Our solution
Strategy

Intermèdia was responsible for sending out a press call a few days before the event to invite the media to the event and achieve maximum attendance. At the same time, in agreement with the Restoration Guild, a selective selection of media was made to offer an exclusive interview with the honored person.

During the day of the event, the agency was in charge of welcoming the media, organizing the photocall and the subsequent 'canutazo'. Once the event was over, a selection was made of the best photographs and a press release was sent.

Action plan

  1. Drafting of informative materials (press call, post press release)
  2. Management of media requests and confirmations
  3. Management of interviews prior to and during the event
  4. On the day of the event, media accreditation, photocall coordination and 'canutazo'
